It was created by me in 2010 it is an oil on canvas, using the new ochre pigments I brought back this year from Roussillon in France. It was inspired by some amazingly vivid sunsets and sunrises I saw while living in Bagnols sur Ceze in the spring of this year.. I understand that the incredible colours in the sky were caused by the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland at that time. It was with a true sense of wonder I watched these spectacular colours unravel across the sky and the lack of airplane noise for those few days truly added to the experience of awe.
